No Zucchini Tuesday...

09 April, 2013

Today I arrived home and really wanted to make zucchini and bacon soup. I even had bought the good sourdough spelt bread from the markets on the weekend.

But to no avail. There were no zucchini's to be had.

My zucchini plants have failed me. I couldn't even take a photo as it was too dark when I was scoping out the plants.

This to me truly makes it hit home that summer is out and autumn is in.

I had to make pasta for dinner.

I know: first world problems.

    1. It was excellent pasta! Orecchiette with homemade passata and italian pork and fennel seed sausages. Yum.

  3. I am glad that you ate at least! I must say I am now down to Greenskin 3 - quite a junior plant. It is throwing the odd fruit only now, still gratefully received. I can leave him in the ground a little longer as I am still waiting for the last of my brassica seedlings to get mature enough to plant out. I might need to start Cabbage Tuesday later in the year. I think I am going to have far too many cabbages!

    1. I think I may get a few more zukes from the plants, but not many. I've cut one back just to a couple of leaves to see if it recovers from the dreaded mildew. Hmmm, cabbage - another much maligned veg but I think for better reason than the zucchini. My issue is probably going to be broccoli and cauliflower - I had such poor success last year that I think I over planted to compensate and now may be overwhelmed by brassicas...
